About the Walk of Fame ~
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, that serves as an entertainment hall of fame. It is embedded with more than 2,000 five-pointed stars featuring the names of not only human celebrities but also fictional characters honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for their contributions to the entertainment industry. The Walk of Fame is maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust.
Each star consists of a pink terrazzo five-pointed star rimmed with bronze and inlaid into a charcoal square. Inside the pink star is the name of the honoree inlaid in bronze, below which is a round bronze emblem indicating the category for which the honoree received the star.
The Nomination Process ~
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce "Walk of Fame Committee" is responsible for selecting a new group of entertainers each year to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Celebrities may not nominate themselves. Nominations can be submitted by anyone. Usually a fan, or fanclub will issue the nomination as long as the celebrity or his/her management is in agreement with the it. Submissions are made annually by May 31, and the Walk of Fame committee meets the following month to pick the next year's group of honorees. New recipients are announced each June for the following year. Star ceremonies are open to the public.

About Elvira's Star Fund ~
The Elvira Fan Club is working to get Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. October 2011 will mark the 30th Anniversary of Elvira's career in show business and Elvira has yet to receive her Star on the Boulevard. We think this would be a great gift to give her for all the years of entertainment that she has brought to her fans and the perfect way to commemorate her anniversary as "The Mistress of the Dark".
Elvira is not just a campy actress with the cult following - she is deeply engrained in American culture as the quintessential symbol of Halloween. She is a pop culture Icon - a true living legend, and big supporter of both human and animal rights. Elvira receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is something that is long overdue.
We have obtained the application from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Cassandra Peterson has agreed to appear (as Elvira) at the presentation ceremony. We are now appealing to the fans for help with the fee cost. With the help of Elvira's vast fan base, we could easily make this happen together. Even if everyone pitched in a dollar, with over 80 thousands fan club members, we could have the money to facilitate Elvira's Star. Once this goal is reached, we can submit the application and begin begging the Chamber of Commerce for a Halloween Day 2011 star unveiling.

Star Fee ~
In order for a person to get a star on the Walk of Fame, a $25,000 fee must be paid to the Trust for costs including the creation of the star, presentation ceremony, and security at the event. This is often paid for by sponsors such as film studios and record companies for publicity when the honoree is involved with a release. On other occasions, the fee is paid by a fan club or independent sponsor.
For your contribution towards Elvira's Star ...
The fan club will be keeping a roster of everyone who has contributed to this fund. When a donation of 1.00 or more is made to the fund, you will receive an Elvira postcard confirming your contribution. Those who donate $50.00 will receive an Official Elvira T-Shirt. Those who donate $100.00 will receive an autographed Elvira photo. All who donate will be invited to both the ceremony and (if plans permit) the Halloween party to celebrate the occasion. This is not only your chance to participate in Hollywood history, it's an easy way to help us honor Elvira for her contribution to the world of entertainment.

First, we'd like to THANK everyone who has made a contribution to Elvira's Star Fund! We'd also like to thank KCAL Channel 9 here in Los Angeles for mentioning our project during their NewsCentral report on Elvira this last October!
We still have a long way to go before we meet the required application fee, but we are off to a good start. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce began accepting applications for 2011 Walk of Fame star recipiants, and the fan club will be submitting Elvira, Mistress of the Dark's application/nomination in January.
Elvira's Star Fund eBay Auction
Cassandra Peterson has donated many items for the fan club's eBay auction! Autographed posters, vintage model kits, movie press materials, vintage t-shirts & fanclub items, promotional advertisments, and personal items are now up on the auction page. New auction items will be added regularly, so keep checking back. All proceeds from these auctions will be applied towards Elvira's Star Fund, so anything you win or purchase helps us reach our goal!
